May 18th marks the beginning of shooting for the film ‘S. Darko’ a sequel to the film Donnie Darko.
Wikipedia tells us:
“UK-based sales company Velvet Octopus will be launching sales for the film in Cannes, with Fox already having required North American rights. S. Darko will be set seven years after the end of Donnie Darko, when Donnie’s little sister Samantha and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Las Vegas when they are plagued by bizarre visions. Daveigh Chase, who portrayed Samantha Darko in Donnie Darko, will be reprising her role. The cast will also include Ed Westwick, Briana Evigan and Justin Chatwin. Chris Fisher will direct the film, shooting on an estimated $10,000,000 budget and commenting he is “a great admirer of Richard Kelly’s film and hope[s] to create a similar world of blurred fantasy and reality.” Donnie Darko director Kelly is, however, not involved. According to Simon Crowe of Velvet Octopus, the character of Donnie Darko will not be coming back, but there will be “meteorites and rabbits”“
A tad late with this news, but Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg have announced the final film from their ‘Blood and Ice cream’ trilogy which is tentatively being called “The World’s End.”
Every film in the trilogy features a different colour cornetto. Shaun of the Dead had a red cornetto symbolizing all the blood and gore in the zombie flick. Hot Fuzz had the original blue cornetto, representing the police. This final movie will feature a green cornetto, which leads me to believe that perhaps aliens will be involved? Do not quote me on that. Just some speculation.
Warner Brothers has made the decision to release the final Harry Potter story, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, as two separate films, the first to be released fall 2010 and the second spring 2011.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is scheduled to be released November 21st of this year.

If you have checked out my ABOUT THE GEEK section of the blog (and if you haven’t– why not?) then you will see that my favourite television show is The Mighty Boosh.
Well, what is now my favourite show could potentially become my favourite movie!
It has been confirmed that the show that began on stage, evolved to radio and now finds a home on television will be making a move to the big screen.
“Stars Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt have signed a deal with BBC Films to bring the cult series to the big screen.
The show focuses on friends Vince Noir (Fielding) and Howard Moon (Barratt), who embark on a series of magical adventures.
The pair are currently working on a script for the movie, which is likely to begin filming early next year.”
